Miami International Auto Show Returns To South Beach November 6-15th
The Miami International Auto Show is back for it’s annual appearance in the Magic City. The auto industry’s gorgeous new makes and models are all here for ooh-ing and aww-ing and without the pesky salespeople.
The Miami International Auto Show is very popular among Miamians. So popular, in fact, that during the short two week show period, over 650,000 visitors attend the Auto Show every year.
What is it that makes our connection to our cars so strong? We all have our own memories tied to cars from our past. Maybe memories of having to wash mom’s car for $5, or remembering dad under the hood, adding oil. I have these memories of my Abuelo taking me for rides in the front seat of his light-baby-banana-yellow colored 1979 Cadillac Eldorado. It had a cream/white interior and I remember the jazz station playing on the radio. I remember standing up in the front seat and turning around, trying to see where the car ended- it seemed to be a football field away.
When I asked Mommy Mafia Facebook readers to share an interesting memory about their very first car, the answers were unsurprisingly awesome:
So gather up the family and make a day out of going to the Auto Show. When you first get inside the Miami Beach Convention Center, you may be surprised at just how massive the Miami International Auto Show really is. There’s every type of car you can dream of. Luxury Cars, Family Cars, Trucks, and Vans. I know my Abuelo would have loved Memory Lane and Havana Classics, a showcase of classic cars.
A big trend that I saw throughout the show floor was integrated WiFi capabilities. That being said, the technology of the 2016 vehicles is pretty mind blowing. A highlight of the 2016 Chevy Malibu, for example, is it’s “Teen Driver” technology that encourages safe driving habits in a number of ways, such as: Muting the audio when occupants aren’t wearing their seat belts, password-protected parental controls and “report cards” that parents can use to monitor their child’s driving even when the parent was not in the vehicle.
Of course, then there’s the sports cars:
This half-LEGO Porsche RSR will be a big hit with both kids and kids at heart:
And then there’s the insane cars that make up Million Dollar Alley:
Like this GOLD Lamboghini:
Bugatti Veyron. Top Speed: 267 MPH. Price: $1,450,000. It is currently the most expensive and fastest sports car in the world.
What auto memories will your child take into adulthood? Maybe some of those memories will start from spending a family day at the Miami International Auto Show together. You can always use it as an excuse to remind them of the sexy sports car Mommy used to drive before she traded it in for that minivan that holds all the soccer equipment.
